Astrology: What Does it All Mean?

What does this even mean?

Sun: 27°33'  ♑ Capricorn Moon: 19°20'  ♉ Taurus Ascendant: 18°09'  ♒ Aquarius MC: 09°04'  ♐ Sagittarius

For the purpose of this blog, I will be using my birth chart but you can easily follow along using Cafe Astrology's website. I have used multiple websites to find mine but the customization of Cafe Astrology is awesome and you can read your chart easily.

Let's start with the Sun

When looking at a birth chart, the Sun is going to be the main sign that you'll most likely recognize. This is the sign that people use when they say what their astrological sign is. The Sun in astrology represents vitality, individuality, and outward creative energy.

I was born while the Sun was in Capricorn so that would be my Sun sign. The degrees you read would just be the exact measurements of where the sun was located when you were born.

Cafe astrology does a huge report for you and at the end of each section they do a short description of what it discusses.

My simplified summary of my Sun sign looks something like this:

"Short description: Kael is honest, reserved, circumspect, honorable, and strong-willed. Quietly ambitious within the realms of the possible, she likes and takes on responsibility. She can work in the social domain.

Possible issues: A sometimes bitter and mistrustful mind."

What about the Moon?

The Moon is one of the other commonly known signs that some people may know. In astrology, it represents emotional responses, unconscious pre-destination, and your self-image. It can also represent your own emotions and can show you may express yourselve when at ease and comfortable.

My Moon sign is Taurus and again, the degree is just a fancy, formal way of saying where the Moon was when I was born.

Again, you'll be able to find a short summary of your Moon sign after the section Cafe Astrology provides.

Mine looks like this:

"Short description: Sweetness itself. Convinced of her ideas and strong-willed. She is foresighted and willful. She knows how to trust. She appreciates all the good things in life. She appreciates and protects nature.

Possible issues: Excesses in pleasure, laziness, sensuality, thoughtlessness."

What do the planets mean then?

With Cafe Astrology, they also provide reports on your signs with each planet based on where they were located when you were born just like they do with the Sun and the Moon.

So, let's go through what each planet will mean when relating to astrology. All definitions for the planets are provided by Cafe Astrology.

Mercury: Mercury represents communication, Cartesian and logical spirit.

Venus: Venus represents an interest in emotions and values, exchange, and sharing with others.

Mars: Mars represents the desire for action and physical energy.

Jupiter: Jupiter represents expansion and grace. Saturn: Saturn represents contraction and effort. Uranus: Uranus represents individual liberty, egoistic liberty. Neptune: Neptune represents transcendental liberty, non-egoistic liberty.

Pluto: Pluto represents transformations, mutations, and elimination.

What else should I know?

There are a couple of other things within astrology that I find to be important. These things include Lilith, the North Node and True North Node, and the Houses.

Cafe Astrology does an amazing job defining each of these topics and also describes what they represent according to your alignment at birth. They also provide a personalized Natal Chart at the end of you birth chart report and although they can be confusing to look at at first, once you learn to read it, they are pretty interesting.

Mine looks like this:

I have discovered my astrology relates to me amazingly and I see how I am represented through my astrological alignment.

Be sure to check out your birth chart and explore what each sign can mean in your life; it's a lot of fun once you start learning!
