An Introduction
I question everything. This is my nature. I believe this is why I was led to my current practices and spirituality.
I was born and raised in a family of four and am the youngest of two daughters. Often times growing up, I felt misplaced, misunderstood, and quite different from those around me. It was around the time I reached high school, I started questioning my morals and beliefs that I was raised to have.
After reaching the beginnings of my first year in college, living in a tiny, old, but cozy, creaky, and wooden apartment I questioned what I was doing with my life; not unlike many eighteen year olds that move away from their only family and lifelines. This is where my new beginnings started to bloom.
A History
I grew up only knowing severe anxiety and depression while also collecting OCD preferences. I figured this was what most kids felt like and maybe that's why I surrounded myself with soft blankets, hardcover books, the sound of rain on the windowpane of my bedroom window, and many differing opinions of my peers.
I used art to express myself but I hid it from the world and didn't like to show much of myself to others. I lacked friends and a social life but it did not appear to effect me negatively. More so, I was bothered by socializing and loud noise, which now seems odd to those who know me.
I surrounded myself only with a few, selective, close friends and I was a listener and collected of thoughts, ideas, and differing opinions.
In my first year of college, I experienced my first close death and the loss of my best friend. I begin questioning many things and that is where my spirituality, my true self, begin to officially form.
My Own Practice
I describe myself as a solitary eclectic urban witch.
Solitary: I choose to practice my spirituality in the privacy of my home and several other designated spaces.
Eclectic: I embrace all types of magick and magickal traditions. Eclectic witches tend to refuse to be pinned down to just one type of magical practice and oftentimes pick different practices to create their own path.
Urban: I prefer to go to Little Urban Witch to describe this type of witch practice. As they state, "I define Urban Witchcraft as āwitchcraft used in conjunction with modern items, within ones own home or on the go, to the benefit or disadvantage of those who deserve itā."
I am a practicer of astrology and use astronomy and star mapping to help guide me along my way. I believe that a person's Sun, Moon, and other star signs do impact them and their life and I oftentimes will help friends map out their astrology in order to guide them on a path of their choosing.
Another way I practice is through altar work. I believe a solid way of practice is through using an altar. Anything can be used as an altar and each witch will have differing altars whether they have crystals, candles, symbols, incense, among many other objects.
Several other topics I will touch on in later blogs that I use within my practice include spirit guides and animal guides, familiars, elemental magick, practicing under moon phases, my strengths and how I grow with my practice, and so much more. Witchcraft is very personal and there are so many different ways to practice depending on who you are as a person.
As a person that absolutely loves pagan culture, witchy subjects, and crystal healing, I love this blog post. I can tell this is a big passion of yours, and appreciate you diving deep and giving us some backstory to you. I would love to engage in lengthy discussions of these subjects with you sometime!
